Veeam Service Provider Console 8.1 Builds

8.1.0.21999

Security

Vulnerabilities
  • CVE- 2024-42448 | Severity: Critical (9.9)
From the VSPC management agent machine, under the condition that the management agent is authorized on the server, it is possible to perform Remote Code Execution (RCE) on the VSPC server machine.
  • CVE- 2024-42449 | Severity: High (7.1)
From the VSPC management agent machine, under the condition that the management agent is authorized on the server, it is possible to leak an NTLM hash of the VSPC server service account and delete files on the VSPC server machine.

New Features and Enhancements

General
  • Unsupported versions of managed products are now highlighted in the Discovery tab area and trigger an “out-of-date” alarm in the backup portal. This should help identify outdated software and plan upgrades accordingly.
  • Automatic emails for newly created sub-tenants can now be adjusted to remove the user password. To do this, please create a support case, and the technical support team will provide the registry value.
  • 11:11 repository type is supported in all relevant backup portal views and tabs.
Scalability
  • Database SQL procedures have been optimized when inserting large amounts of data related to Veeam Backup & Replication jobs. This should lower the load on the staging database and improve the stability of the backup portal.
  • Memory usage has been optimized to generate less load on the backup portal server in large-scale deployments.
  • The retention policy procedure for stored data has been optimized to provide better efficiency and lower the load on the SQL Server hosting the VSPC database.
Hosted Infrastructure
  • The company name is now automatically added to the backup job name created on a hosted server. This allows service providers to easily differentiate what backup jobs belong to what company.
  • The hosted location is now available during backup portal user creation. Previously, it was required to assign any resources to that location, and only then was the hosted location available for selection in the user profile.
Veeam Agent for Microsoft Windows Integration
  • Backup job GFS options configuration is now available in the backup portal UI.
Alarms
  • Backup agent alarms can now be scoped to either workstation, server, or both computer types. This allows maximum flexibility when configuring different thresholds for managed computers.
UI & UX
  • Widgets for Veeam products that are not managed by the backup portal are now hidden from the RPO & SLA view.
  • The backup portal (VSPC) patch level is now displayed on the About page in the Configuration section.
REST APIs
  • A new minor version of REST APIs containing new endpoints is now available for production usage.
For the complete change log, please refer to the documentation.
  • Service providers can now query which tier of the Scale-Out Backup Repository (SOBR) the corresponding backups are on. This provides maximum flexibility when using VSPC REST APIs to integrate with 3rd party portals and billing applications.

Resolved Issues

Management Agent
  • When a management agent is in the rejected state, it continues to hold a connection to the backup portal.
Contact the technical support team for assistance to change the default management agent behavior.
UI
  • Under certain conditions, some backup portal tabs might not be loaded correctly.
SSO
  • Under certain conditions, when registering an external identity provider, the procedure may fail with the error:
Failed to initialize the identity provider

Notifications
  • After upgrading to v8.1 of the backup portal, individual notifications on events stop working for resellers and portal admins.
Alarms
  • The 'Hosted backup repository storage quota' alarm is triggered for all companies on the hosted backup server, ignoring quota usage for companies that are still below the configured quota threshold.
Dashboards
  • Session States dashboard does not display backup copy jobs running in the immediate mode.
Veeam ONE Integration
  • Alarms that are no longer present in a managed Veeam ONE server cannot be resolved or acknowledged in the backup portal UI.
Veeam Backup for Microsoft 365 Integration
  • On the Backup Jobs and Protected Data tabs for companies without any backup resources assigned, location administrators and location users receive the error:
Value cannot be null. Reference type: Veeam.MBP.DataModel.LocationNode Parameter name: obj

  • Data collection from managed Veeam Backup for Microsoft 365 servers fails when protected organizations have expired “SharePoint Online and OneDrive for Business” licenses.
  • The “Next Run" value in the jobs grid is not updated after a backup job is completed.
  • In the “Session States” tab, failed retry sessions for the backup job are not skipped when calculating the overall state for the day.
VCSP Pulse Portal Integration
  • When the authentication token to VCSP Pulse expires, the backup portal continues to connect and synchronize data.
  • Under certain circumstances, it is impossible to edit the parameters of the generated license key.
REST APIs
  • The backup portal stops responding when creating a discovery rule via REST APIs v3.4
  • Property “instanceUid” for Veeam Backup & Replication jobs returned internal IDs instead of original IDs from the backup server in REST API v3.4
  • Endpoint modifications from cumulative patches for VSPC v8 are missing in the REST APIs v3.4 after upgrading to VSPC v8.1
  • When the backup portal manages an unsupported version of Veeam ONE, the REST API method “GetOrganizationsLicenseUsage” returns an exception for the entire organization.
  • When the backup portal manages an unsupported version of Veeam Backup for Microsoft 365, the REST API method “organizations/companies/hostedResources/vb365” returns the error:
An item with the same key has already been added.

  • The Reseller Owner and Company Owner cannot list Linux backup jobs using the method “GetBackupServerAgentJobs”
  • The description for “GetBackupServerBackupCopyJobs” has been updated to reflect the latest information about included job types.
  • "GET /infrastructure/backupServers/{backupServerUid}/repositories/{repositoryUid} GetBackupRepository" endpoint returns an error when using REST APIs v3.4.
