Purpose

This article documents how to locate and retrieve the VMC log file, which a Veeam Employee may request during a configuration review.

Solution

Note: The log location specified below is the default path. If you find that the expected log files are not in the default location, check if the log location has been customized.

The VMC.log file is stored on the Veeam Backup Server within the folder: C:\ProgramData\Veeam\Backup\Utils

Perform the following steps on the Veeam Backup Server:
 

  1. Right-click on the Start button.
  2. Select the "Run" option.

  1. Enter the following path, and click Ok
C:\ProgramData\Veeam\Backup\Utils

  1. Within the C:\ProgramData\Veeam\Backup\Utils folder, collect the VMC log file.
    Note: The path is C:\ProgramData, not C:\Program Files\.

More Information

If the VMC log file is not in the folder C:\ProgramData\Veeam\Backup\Utils, the latest VMC log can be found in the most recent zip file ending in Utils. Start with the most recent Utils archive and check if it contains a VMC log file. If it does not, return to the Utils folder and open the next newest Utils zip file.
