Purpose

This article documents how to change the default port used by the Plugin Manager (6791) for Veeam Plug-ins for Enterprise Applications:

  • Veeam Plug-in for SAP HANA
  • Veeam Plug-in for Oracle RMAN
  • Veeam Plug-in for SAP on Oracle
  • Veeam Plug-in for Microsoft SQL Server
  • Veeam Plug-in for IBM Db2

Changing the default port used by the Plugin Manage may be necessary when third-party software on the same machine uses port 6791, for example Elastic Agent Monitoring Endpoint.

Solution

  1. Create an XML file named veeam_common_config.xml in the folder listed below, based on the Plugin and deployment OS:
    • Veeam Plug-in for SAP HANA
      /opt/veeam/VeeamPluginforSAPHANA/

    • Veeam Plug-in for Oracle RMAN
      • on Windows:
        C:\Program Files\Veeam\VeeamPluginforOracleRMAN\

      • on Linux:
        /opt/veeam/VeeamPluginforOracleRMAN/

    • Veeam Plug-in for SAP on Oracle
      /opt/veeam/VeeamPluginforSAPOracle/

    • Veeam Plug-in for Microsoft SQL Server
      C:\Program Files\Veeam\Plugins\Microsoft SQL\

    • Veeam Plug-in for IBM Db2
      /opt/veeam/VeeamPluginforDB2/

  1. The content of veeam_common_config.xml should be as shown below.
    Adjust the port value as needed.
<Config>
<PluginParameters minPluginManagerPort="6791">
</PluginParameters>
</Config>
  1. Depending on the OS, navigate to the folder listed below and remove the lock file whose name contains the old port number:
    • For Veeam Plug-in deployed on Linux:
      /tmp/veeam_plugin_locks/

    • For Veeam Plug-in deployed on Windows:
      C:\ProgramData\Veeam\Backup\DBPlugins\
