Challenge

After a failed attempt to deploy NEA for tenants on the provider's side, all files from the datastore root folder including VM files are deleted.

Cause

This issue is caused by using only the " " (space) symbol for the NEA name and the deployment has failed. Veeam tries to detect failed NEA files to remove them using the following rule: "DatastoreName\NEA_Name". If only a space symbol in NEA is used, the path will be "DatastoreName\", causing all files in the datastore root folder to be removed.

Solution

Due to a recently discovered issue in the NEA deployment logic, please do not attempt to deploy a network extension appliance containing only one " " (space) symbol either in the GUI, RESTFUL API or PoweShell.
