Challenge

Windows 2012 / 2012 R2 Hyper-V hosts leak memory when a hardware snapshot is created/removed multiple times on a CSV with a hardware provider.

Cause

Windows 2012 / 2012 R2 Hyper-V hosts leak memory when a snapshot is created on a CSV using hardware provider. Due to the fact that only a small amount of memory (~50Mb) is not freed up each time after the snapshot is removed from the CSV, the issue might not be detected at a glance

Solution

The following hotfix is available from Microsoft for Windows 2012 / 2012 R2 hosts: http://support.microsoft.com/kb/3004098
