Challenge

When attempting to use remote replica from backup function, the job fails with the error:
 
One or more disks that are excluded in the source backup job are included in the replication job

Cause

There are disks that were either automatically excluded (independent disk or physical RDM) or manually excluded in the backup job that were not excluded from the replication job.

Solution

Configure exclusions within the replication job that reflect what disks were excluded at the backup level. http://helpcenter.veeam.com/backup/80/vsphere/replica_exclude_vm.html

Note: Remember the Disk Exclusion section actually records which disks will be included in processing.
