Purpose

This article documents how to create custom alerts for monitoring setting changes within VMware vCenter and verifying the type of data being collected. For this purpose, Veeam provides a list of Veeam MP for VMware Metric Definitions and vCenter Events Definitions.

Solution

Usage Examples
  • If you want to create an alert for when a VM loses network connectivity, you would use the vCenter Events list:
    • VmNetworkFailedEvent
  • If you want to know the VM CPU usage, you would use the Metrics list:
    • cpuUsedPct — for percent

      or
    • cpuUsageMhz -emdash for MHz
