VMWORLD 2008 – LAS VEGAS, Nevada, Sept. 15, 2008 — Veeam Software, award-winning provider of systems management tools for VMware ESX Server environments, today announced Version 4.0 of its nworks enterprise management connectors. At the same time, nworks (now a part of Veeam) is very pleased to be a charter member of the VMware Ready Management Program, announced today by VMware.

Version 4.0 is composed of new updates for the nworks Management Pack (MP) for VMware for Microsoft System Center Operations Manager; the nworks Smart Plug-in (SPI) for VMware for HP Software Operations Manager; and the underlying nworks Collector component, and offers major new capabilities including hardware and sensor status.

Version 4.0 of the Veeam/nworks connectors is being demonstrated this week at VMworld. Major new features include:

• Hardware Sensor Support – The nworks collector gathers ESX and ESXi hardware and sensor status, and sends it to the nworks connectors for Microsoft Systems Center Operations Manager and HP Operations Manager. If a power supply is interrupted, a fan fails, or other hardware-related issues occur, information is immediately forwarded to the enterprise management console without use of an agent on the VC Servers, ESX, or ESXi hosts.
• New graphical representations of data stores – Version 4.0 provides at-a-glance views of the VMware data stores on the enterprise management console map, showing which virtual machines are connected to which data stores, along with other capacity planning information.
• Virtual Infrastructure 2.5 support – New VC 2.5 server performance counters are collected and forwarded.
• Flexible collection intervals – With version 4.0, users select the performance and status data collection interval that is right for them – 5, 10, 15 or 20-minute intervals are supported.

The nworks Management Pack (MP) and Smart Plug-in (SPI) for VMware are complementary to Veeam Monitor. Depending on their requirements, customers can use the nworks connectors, or Veeam Monitor, or both solutions to manage and monitor VMware performance. Customers currently on maintenance for the MP or the SPI can receive the new version at no additional charge.

Pricing and Availability Version 4.0 of the Veeam/nworks management connectors will be available in mid-October. North American pricing for the nworks Management Pack for VMware begins at $975 USD per ESX server; and North American pricing for the nworks Smart Plug-in for VMware begins at $1,250 per 2-CPU socket.
