Columbus, Ohio, May 26, 2010 – The new version of the Veeam nworks Smart Plug-in (SPI) for VMware takes the integration of virtualization management in HP Operations Manager to a new level. Veeam Software, innovative provider of data protection, disaster recovery and systems management solutions for VMware virtual datacenter environments, today released version 5.5 of its nworks SPI, providing even better support for mission-critical VMware environments and updated certifications from both VMware and HP. “Version 5.5 of the nworks SPI makes it even easier for enterprises to integrate VMware monitoring and management into HP Operations Manager, thereby protecting that investment and ensuring the integrity of that single management console,” explained Ratmir Timashev, Veeam President and CEO. “The advancements made are a direct result of customer feedback and our continued close partnerships with VMware and HP.” Enhanced scalability and performance The Veeam nworks SPI 5.5 allows administrators to control the frequency at which data is published to HP Operations Manager. Each data class can have its own publication interval, and data handling can be tuned to more than double scalability and performance, without sacrificing the resolution of key monitoring data or the availability of drilldown metrics. Improved high availability and load balancing Version 5.5 also provides improved high availability and load balancing. New failover groups in nworks Enterprise Manager (the new name for nworks Management Center) allow for complete control of failover between collectors. In addition, a new load-balancing algorithm provides for smarter monitoring job placement during failover or when a vCenter is added to the monitored environment. New deployment toolkit Version 5.5 includes a deployment toolkit to assist with initial deployment and subsequent growth of the virtual environment. It includes a built-in wizard and an online calculator that analyzes the environment and recommends the number of collectors to deploy based on the number of objects to be monitored (not simply the number of hosts or virtual machines). Certification, Pricing and Availability VMware has certified the Veeam nworks SPI 5.5 for vSphere 4 and VMware Infrastructure 3, and HP has certified it for Operations Manager for Windows 8 and Operations Manager for Unix 9. The new version is available immediately, with North American MSRP pricing at $690 per CPU socket.
