This Veeam Ready test was performed with storage having a configuration that includes SSD/Flash.  As such, this classification only applies to similar configurations in which the same amount or more SSD drives are used.  The use of non-SSD drives may negatively impact performance.
SMB write-through is supported on this platform and was used in the Veeam Ready testing. You must enable the SMB write-through setting on the storage to avoid issues that are described in the following knowledge base entry: KB3124.

Vendor recommended configuration

Vendor Settings:

  • Was multipathing / link aggregation used (MPIO, SMB 3.0, etc.)? Link aggregation, SMB3 was used
  • Caching used (is data cached in storage architecture?) The SSD is a persistent shared storage for read/write caching.
  • Read/write caching (describe use, size, and how caching works in architecture): In the Qumulo hybrid nodes every block of data written to the file system is persisted to NVMe/SSD and from there is destaged to HDD.  Read caching uses the same SSD’s with algorithms to determine the required read data to be restaged in the cache.
  • If SMB used for testing, does vendor solution support SMB write-through?  Yes, through settings in the product
  • Was SMB write-through enabled during the testing? Yes
  • Array deduplication used in testing: No
  • Array compression used in testing: No
