Release Notes for Veeam Backup for Microsoft 365 4a.

Please confirm you are running Veeam Backup for Microsoft 365 version 2.0, 3.0 or 4.0 prior to installing the new version 4a (4.0.0.1553). You can check the product version under Help > About in the Veeam Backup for Microsoft 365 console. After upgrading, your build version will change to 4.0.0.1553.

For the existing customers running Veeam Backup for Microsoft 365 4.0 GA, the new version 4a (4.0.0.1553) delivers intelligent enhancements to the automatic product upgrade functionality. In this case, upgrading to version 4a does not require any backup proxy or repository upgrades.

For the existing customers running Veeam Backup for Microsoft 365 3.0 and 2.0, the new version 4a (4.0.0.1553) delivers all features and functionalities introduced with Veeam Backup for Microsoft 365 4.0 GA (see the What’s new in version 4 page) along with intelligent enhancements to the automatic product upgrade functionality.

NOTE: Version 4a (4.0.0.1553) is applicable to standalone installations of Veeam Backup for Microsoft 365 2.0, 3.0 and 4.0 and installations on top of Veeam Backup & Replication 9.5 Update 4 or higher and Veeam Cloud Connect 9.5 Update 4 or higher.
 

To update Veeam Backup for Microsoft 365 from version 4.0 GA (4.0.0.1345) to version 4a (4.0.0.1553):

1. Download VeeamBackupOffice365_4.0.0.1553.zip
2. Run Veeam.Backup365_4.0.0.1553.msi as administrator on the Veeam Backup for Microsoft 365 server.

To update Veeam Backup for Microsoft 365 from versions 2.0 or 3.0 to version 4a (4.0.0.1553):

1. Download VeeamBackupOffice365_4.0.0.1553.zip
2. Run Veeam.Backup365_4.0.0.1553.msi as administrator on the Veeam Backup for Microsoft 365 server.
3. Run VeeamExplorerForExchange_4.0.0.1553.msi as administrator on the on each machine where Veeam Explorer for Microsoft Exchange is installed.
4. Run VeeamExplorerForSharePoint_4.0.0.1553.msi as administrator on the on each machine where Veeam Explorer for Microsoft SharePoint is installed.

Important note: Before upgrading to version 4a from versions 2.0 and 3.0, please familiarize yourself with the Upgrading Veeam Backup for Microsoft 365 section of the Veeam Backup for Microsoft 365 4a Release Notes.

To update Veeam Backup for Microsoft 365 from version 1.5 to version 4a (4.0.0.1553):

1. Download VeeamBackupOffice365_2.0.0.567.zip
2. Run Veeam.Backup365_2.0.0.567.msi as administrator on the Veeam Backup for Microsoft 365 server.
3. Run VeeamExplorerForExchange_9.6.3.567.msi as administrator on the on each machine where Veeam Explorer for Microsoft Exchange is installed.
4. Run VeeamExplorerForSharePoint_9.6.3.568.msi as administrator on the on each machine where Veeam Explorer for Microsoft SharePoint is installed.
5. Download VeeamBackupOffice365_4.0.0.1553.zip
6. Run Veeam.Backup365_4.0.0.1553.msi as administrator on the Veeam Backup for Microsoft 365 server.
7. Run VeeamExplorerForExchange_4.0.0.1553.msi as administrator on the on each machine where Veeam Explorer for Microsoft Exchange is installed.
8. Run VeeamExplorerForSharePoint_4.0.0.1553.msi as administrator on the on each machine where Veeam Explorer for Microsoft SharePoint is installed.

Important note: Before upgrading to version 2.0 from version 1.5, please familiarize yourself with the Upgrading Veeam Backup for Microsoft 365 section of the Veeam Backup for Microsoft 365 2.0 Release Notes.

If there are any remote proxies in your environment please update those as described here.
 

Please note that Veeam Backup for Microsoft 365 4a cumulative patch KB3089 is now available and contains all the resolved issues from Veeam Backup for Microsoft 365 4a.
