It’s been a little over a year since I joined Veeam, and the adage “time flies when you’re having fun” could not be more apt. It seems just yesterday that I was collecting my laptop and addressing my team for the first time! The past 12 or so months have been phenomenal and a truly momentous year for the company. I’d like to say it was all my doing, but the team is outstanding and they have achieved so much to be proud of. Today, Veeam is THE CLEAR MARKET LEADER. You may be saying, “Prove it, Peter,” so let me do just that.
We know our customers are some of our biggest fans, but when the industry analysts are in your corner, opportunities for further success are boundless. Gartner recently published the 2017 Magic Quadrant for Data Center Backup & Recovery Solutions and, for the second consecutive year, Veeam is a Leader. When industry analysts call you out as a leader, you know you are on the right path. Gartner’s validation follows Ovum positioning as a Leader in its Ovum Decision Matrix: Selecting a Data Availability and Protection Solution for the Cloud Era, 2016 – 17, and we also racked up fourth position in Gartner’s Market Share: Storage Management Software, Worldwide, 2016i, with a 27% year-over-year (YoY) growth for 2016. The icing on the cake was being ranked #27 in the Forbes Cloud 100 List.
In fact, our momentum is so strong that IDC named us its Momentum Leader and predicts Veeam will be the #3 Backup & Recovery solution in 2018 and #1 by the end of 2019. We are well on our way to #1
Yet, that’s not it. We have added strength and depth to our global teams, investing in existing talent and bringing in new family members to support our growth objectives. And it has paid dividends. Veeam’s vision of delivering uninterrupted Digital Life experiences to users, providing Availability for any app, any data, any cloud, has seen us amass more than 267,500 customers at a rate of more than four thousand a month. However, this is only half of the story. While attracting new customers is key to our growth, we are maniacally focused on customer service and retention, and I am immensely proud of our Net Promoter Score (NPS) of +73. This is almost 3x the industry average and on par with the likes of Apple! And 90% of customers would recommend Veeam to industry peers. This is tremendous. In a highly competitive market such as ours, customer validation like this cannot be underestimated, and is testament to the team we have created. And don’t just take my word for it:
“For Mercedes-Benz Turk IT Infrastructure and Operations Department, the team’s top priority is to ensure full-time (24.7.365) Availability for the data center services”, said Tolga Aşık Data Center Infrastructure Specialist at Mercedes-Benz Türk A.Ş. “Veeam’s contribution has not only been in backup processes, but in their end to end solutions with an innovative approach for the Always-On Business. With numerous and inventive data recovery options, Veeam provided Mercedes-Benz Turk with the ability to reduce hours of data recovery to minutes. One of Veeam’s intelligent features ‘file recovery’ made it possible to recover a file within few minutes.”
All-in-all, an impressive year for the entire team, and one can underestimate the huge admiration I have for the team in working so diligently to earn these accolades. It proves that Veeam’s strategy and execution are sound, and that we are more than capable of delivering the services customers across the globe are clamouring for. And we are building on this momentum, accelerating into 2018, to expand our ecosystem of partners in order to deliver rich experiences to our customers. Recently, we announced key alliance integrations with Nutanix and Pure Storage, as well as deeper ties with Cisco and VMware. More announcements will follow, but I see 2017 as a spring-board to even greater things in 2018.
We know users demand 24.7.365 access to services, and we know that companies are looking to multi-cloud environments to drive their operations, and Veeam is the vendor of choice to meet these demands. I don’t need to beat the drum as you’ve read that many others are doing that for me, but if you still need convincing, then call one of the team. Trust 267,500 other companies that it will be a call worth placing.
