Veeam Data Platform makes Data Resilience as easy as 1, 2, 3…

Data Resilience is all about giving businesses a solution that reduces risk across their hybrid estate, and Veeam Data Platform raises the bar yet again.  Veeam Data Platform v12.3 brings Cyber Resiliency, AI, Identity, and advanced capabilities that continue to reduce your exposure to bad actors and cybercrime. No, you aren’t imagining things – V12.2 was released just a few short months ago, and we are back with another top-tier platform advancement showing our commitment to innovation.

As many Enterprises find themselves going through annual end-of-year checklists and tasks, sometimes preparing for the “quiet time” of the year, it’s important to remember that your data doesn’t get a break. There is no “Easy” button for Enterprise data resilience, but we are here to give you the tools to achieve it. There’s so much to unpack in this latest release, now is the time to evaluate what Veeam Data Platform can do in your quest to reduce risk, prevent downtime and protect your brand reputation.

Integrity for Your Identity

In today’s world, cloud services and SaaS offerings are a staple in many businesses, and sometimes you may not even be aware of all the services that your business depends on –  Microsoft Entra ID is a great example. It’s very likely that your organization depends on Microsoft Entra ID, Formerly Azure Active Directory, as your Identity Access solution.

Microsoft Entra ID is the cornerstone of Identity and Access Management for organizations across the globe and, as such, is a high-value target for attackers. In fact, Microsoft recently shared that there are more than 600 million identity attacks against Entra occurring daily. Just like the rest of your business’ Crown Jewels, this data needs to be protected against threats while meeting compliance goals. Relying on the Recycle Bin should not be your DR strategy, especially since changes to objects, such as group memberships, never make it there.

Fortunately, that all changes today! Available as part of Veeam Data Platform v12.3, Veeam Backup for Entra ID empowers customers to:

  • Quickly identify changes made to Entra ID objects
  • Reduce costs without sacrificing retention for their sign-in and audit logs
  • Restore critical Enterprise Applications and Application Registrations

Innovate Cyber Resilience

While cloud providers typically handle baseline security hardening for their services, organizations of all sizes must remain vigilant regarding their data centers. As cyberattacks continually get more intricate and complex, the number of telltale signs to look for keeps expanding, adding greater strain on IT and Security teams already spread thin.  This newest release brings industry-leading capabilities to the Veeam Data Platform, providing overworked teams with a welcomed extra set of eyes.

Recently, we announced the availability of Recon Scanner by Coveware; with the vast majority of cyberthreats targeting backup infrastructure, you need every advantage that you can get when it comes to your security posture. Recon Scanner leverages the top-tier knowledge, experience, and expertise that Coveware brings by proactively uncovering and identifying adversary tactics, techniques, and procedures (TTPs) used during a cyberattack. These threats are aligned to the Mitre ATT&CK framework, providing businesses with the details they need to stop an attack before it even starts.

Included as part of Veeam Data Platform Advanced, the IoC Tools Scanning capability lets you expand this hunt to the workloads you protect. By leveraging regularly updated identifiers, this new capability can alert you to new additions of known hacker toolkits and data exfiltration tools to your protected workloads. By shrinking the gap between an attacker adding a malicious tool and its identification during backup, customers can now move quicker and sooner to mitigate the blast radius of a compromise.

File scans are not always enough though, which is where the new capability, Veeam Threat Hunter adds yet another layer of protection. Powering integrated signature-based scans, Veeam Threat Hunter will let customers scan their backups with increased performance and lower overhead. When leveraged as part of a Secure Restore, this provides the capability of performing a signature-based scan with a secondary malware detection engine. Additionally, when combined with SureBackup jobs, this paints the picture of performing continual spot checks on your backups without impacting your production workloads.

Evolve Your Enterprise

It has been estimated that 150 Zettabytes of data will have been created in 2024, and that is expected to double every year with no signs of slowing down. Teams are tasked with handling more data by the day, and hand in hand with that comes the daunting tasks of provisioning, maintaining, and securing storage. With the recent release of VDP 12.3, customers can now enjoy a tightly integrated Veeam Data Cloud Vault 2.0 experience. With just a few clicks, customers can utilize a Veeam-managed cloud storage service with predictable pricing, relieving you of the daily headaches that commonly go hand in hand with cloud storage.

As organizations continue to monitor the hypervisor market shift, Nutanix AHV customers have a lot to look forward to with this release as well. Not too long ago, Veeam introduced comprehensive Nutanix Prism Central integration, as well as a slew of other new features, capabilities, and enhancements. Here we are just a few months later, delivering even more! First up is the addition of Inline and guest-index malware scanning for Nutanix AHV backups. Threats can lurk in any workload on any hypervisor – let Veeam Data Platform help uncover them! Additionally, this release brings full application-aware backup capabilities for Nutanix AHV, including Veeam Explorer support, to several workloads, including:

  • Oracle
    • PostgreSQL
    • Microsoft SQL
    • Microsoft SharePoint
    • Microsoft Active Directory
    • Microsoft Exchange

The day-to-day struggle is real.  Between expanding workloads, new hypervisors, a shift to the cloud, and so many other moving parts, organizations have never had to do more with tighter budgets. IT leaders and administrators lack the time to level up their skills or dive deep into findings and reports that may be at their fingertips.  Veeam has a solution with Veeam Intelligence.

Powered by Generative AI, Veeam Intelligence lets you not only ask and receive answers in a natural way, but it can also provide in-depth analysis of data, such as identifying out-of-date components, highlighting high-risk items, and even providing responses in different languages. Don’t be mistaken; this isn’t just the evolution (and renaming) of the Veeam AI Assistant — this is a full-on revolution!
