Veeam announces it’s a Certified Backup & Restore provider for Microsoft Teams

Note:
In order to use the new Teams API you will need to follow the steps outlined in this blog post.

The last two years have seen astronomical adoption of Microsoft 365, especially Microsoft Teams, as remote working has become the new norm. During this time, Veeam Backup for Microsoft 365 has firmly become one of the leaders in the Microsoft 365 backup market, giving organizations the power to securely back up data to any location — on premises or to cloud object storage. We have proven Veeam and Microsoft 365 are better together.

“We are proud to announce Veeam is one of the first backup vendors to be a Certified Backup & Restore provider for Microsoft Teams with Veeam Backup for Microsoft 365.”

— said Danny Allan, CTO at Veeam

We recommend that you take advantage of all the native functionality built into Microsoft 365 licenses. Veeam is able to complement them with separation of privileges and data, consistency of protection across Exchange Online, SharePoint Online, OneDrive for Business, and Teams, flexible and granular restore options, with ability to do self-service restores.

Veeam Backup for Microsoft 365 will perform Microsoft Teams backup using the Microsoft Graph Export API for Microsoft Teams messages with Veeam Backup for Microsoft 365, we will support backup of public channel messages. By using a Microsoft Graph API for Teams Export and getting  Microsoft Teams certification, we are continuing to expand our Teams-specific feature set.

“We are pleased to see Veeam joining the growing ecosystem of certified backup providers for Teams. The Microsoft Graph Export API for Microsoft Teams messages, when combined with powerful ISV partner solutions, enables customers to retrieve and export historical message data while meeting governance and compliance requirements.”

— said Yaron Hezroni, Principal Group Product Manager for Teams Ecosystem at Microsoft

We strongly believe in the power and reliability of the Microsoft 365 platform. There is a shared responsibility model when it comes to cloud and SaaS (Software as a Service) adoption, and organizations need to be able to manage and archive information so that regulatory and legal requirements are met. When things go wrong with your data, whether this is ransomware-related or caused by administrative error, you want to make sure you have what you need to recover and meet compliance goals.

“Microsoft Teams has become a key application for Swietelsky during the COVID-19 pandemic. Our employees can work on projects in more than 20 different teams at the same time. With Veeam, we reliably protect all content that is created with Microsoft Teams from risks and data loss.”

— said Gunter Natschläger, IT Manager, Backup & Virtualization, Swietelsky AG
